Your Love is Lifting Me Back in Time

A proper dancefloor stomper for you lot this time ;)! I've taken Kylie Minogue's 1990 tune 'Step Back in Time' and added Chynna Blue's vocals from Joachim Garraud's version of Evelyn Thomas' disco classic 'High Energy'.

It's nothing earth shattering but it should get some rump moving on the dancefloor!

Party Like a Californian

Hi Peeps

This track uses very different sources but works together really well (IMHO). I've used the Shop Boyz instrumental, 'Party Like a Rockstar' mashed with the vocals from The Eagles 'Hotel California. I've also sprinkled in some bass and strings from 'Hotel California' too for a little extra depth.

You can download it here:

Stop in the Name of Heartache

This tune has recently been re-discovered after many months. This concept eventually turned into 'Stoppin' the Train of Love' (Soul Asylum vs The Supremes) and this version was shelved...............until now!

I thought I'd dust it down, finish it up and put it out. The tune uses the instrumental from Bonnie Tyler's 70's classic 'It's a Heartache' mashed with the beautiful vocals from The Supremes 'Stop in the Name of Love'.

Diamonds Are For Amy

Hey All!

A slight change of tempo from recent posts. I've gone a little diva'ish with this one for you's. On hearing that Amy Winehouse was to record the next James Bond film theme I thought I'd get in first, have a play and see what would occur with her vocals and a Bond theme.

I've used the instrumental from 'Diamonds are Forever' originally belted out by Shirley Bassey and mashed it with vocals from Amy Winehouse's 'Wake Up Alone'.

mARKYbOY's Most Popular Downloads 2008

It's been a very productive year for me and I've had fantastic comments from hundreds of people including a mention of my 'Deee-liteful Milkshakes' tune in the Guardian newspaper at the start of the year. A number 7 entry on John Sakamoto's 'Anti-Hit List' over in Toronto with my 'Back to the Ritz' tune .

I've also had the pleasure to be featured on two SoundUnsound compilations that went out this year - Summer Booty 2008 and Bhangra Bootay. Later in the year I was contacted by Scott Johnson over at Ramdom Thoughts to see if I would be interested in putting together some exclusive tunes that he would feature in a special 'mARKYbOY' show.

I completed two further projects/mash up albums - Black to Back, Amy Winehouse Mashed & mARKYbOY's Motown Mashed both of which were very well received and the downloads sent my bandwidth through the roof (still does!)

Anyways.........................................................................................................................

I've decided to put all my most popular tunes (ones with 400+ downloads) of 2008 into two neat packages for download.

Click the pics for the tracklists and the titles to download the album.

The first one 'The Night Before' is definately one for the feet, containing 14 of my most popular dance tunes of the year.

THE NIGHT BEFORE - New Link!

Secondly comes 'The Morning After' - definately one for the head, containing 14 of my most popular downtempo/chilled out tunes.

Have a great Christmas and a very happy New Year!

Bhangra Bootay!

mARKYbOY- 'The Message of Dhoom' or:

mARKYbOY - 'Deepur and Deepur' or:

Do you remember your first Vaisakhi festival? The stringed pizzicato of the iktar coupled with the glissando of the tumbi had the Punjabis whirling. Throw in the beats of the dohl and the chimta and, well, you have one helluva party. One need not be Indo-Aryan, Himachal Pradeshian, or even New Dhelian. The Uttar Predesh tones emanate from Southern UK with mARKYBOY, the dulcet vox and beat box groove of Himachal Pradesh is actually from Newport, UK thanks to Oscar TG, and you would think Prime Minister Gulzarilal Nanda commissioned DJ Useo to make all of Michigan twist their sepia booties all night long to a lilting female temptress call. Just yesterday, the Toronto paper shouted Malkit Singh is no longer the golden voice of the Punjab — Maxwell Jump is. Not only do the Eastern Asian youth find RebornIdentity with the bhangra sound, but the cats in Manchester do as well. Missy Eliot may have introduced the bell-toned beats to the 2000s America, but Bobby Martini made it a seeming mandate from Priest King Mohenjo-daro. And, after listening to this comp, if Eamezy and neiltomo do not have their Ph.Ds (Producers of Hott Dub) from Guru Nanak Dev University, then the Sindhis have every right to rebel. Whether your dance of choice is the Luddi, Giddha, Julli, Daankara,or Dhamal, Guv’nor , Mr. Rusty, and mattbland provide the nonstop toe-to-palming and ass-shakin’ . So, imagine DJ Spider wearing his traditional Jugi as he spins those eclectic beats, and Sfreeman41 holding his Malwai Giddha in one hand while hitting an 808 with the left as you take a culturally diverse quest to find the Farsi fusion. As they say in all Punjabi regions, “Makaharsi albretkita, Ross.” Thanks for the Movement.

Relax, It's In Your Eyes

Hi Guys

This is the 'sister' tune to my last post and as camp as Christmas. They started life as the same tune a couple of nights ago and soon went their separate ways. Again a real poppy/dancey tune with the mental and pella working well together IMO. It should manage to get a couple of booties on the dancefloor !!

Harder, Faster, Don't Stop! Not in the Eyes.

A little poppy/dancey/R nB tune to get your Friday nite off to a start. This is Kylie's 'It's In Your Eyes' instrumental with Rihanna's vocal's from 'Please Don't Stop the Music' and a little bit of Daft Punk's 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' thrown in for good measure.

Get It Together or Walk On By

Hey All

A new tune for today, simple but effective me thinks! It takes a loop from Jurassic 5's 'Get it Together' and uses Sybil's vocals from 'Walk On By' over the top. Nothing earth shattering, just classy soul vocal updated with a stomping RnB mental.

A Love Song for My Guy

Hi All!!

This is a tune I've been playing around with for a hour or two. There's a couple of hooks in the Sarah Bareilles 'Love Song' tune that put me in mind of 'My Guy' by Mary Wells so I thought I'd try the mash!! This is the result:

Let me know what you think in the usual spots.

Lets Push This Party to Disturbia

Hi Guys!

Just another mash up thrown into the 'Disturbia' ring. This tune uses the instrumental of Rihanna's 'Disturbia with main vocals courtesy of Pink's ' Get This Party Started' and a sprinkling from Salt 'n' Pepa's 'Push It'.
